About Hamish

Hamish Scott is a specialist in business strategy. He advises on and leads processes for strategy formulation and implementation.

Hamish spent fifteen years in marketing, commercial, general management and corporate strategy positions in the media and travel industries and as a management consultant.

Since 2001, Hamish has worked on executive capability, as a member of faculty and a visiting lecturer in a number of European Schools, including Vlerick (Brussels), DTU (Copenhagen), London Business School and Ashridge (London). He lectures on the growth, change, and competitive and corporate strategy.

Hamish works for organisations on their corporate strategy and implementation. He has served as a Strategy Director within the Peel Group, as specialist in strategy implementation in the Strategy department in Airbus Group’s Toulouse headquarters, and as strategy lead in a German biotech company.

Hamish’s publications combine practical insights with academic work: his 2016 article for London Business Review ‘Taking strategy to the next level’ sets out new ways for strategy to be conducted in organisations and his Strategy Magazine publication ‘Lost in Translation’ directs managers in how to improve implementation. The Journal of Management Learning article on effectiveness of live case studies in strategy learning has advanced academic thinking on how managers benefit from practical application of strategy tools.

Hamish has served as a member of the management committee of Ashridge Business School, as Director of open enrolment programmes, and as faculty leader for the Senior Executive and Advanced Management programmes. He as also worked with a large number of corporate clients on executive development and strategic change initiatives.

In his 40 year career, Hamish has worked in a range of disciplines – from marketing management to corporate M&A to general management to Board-level strategist. This first-hand experience has equipped him to specialise in how business strategies get turned into action.
